Disclaimers & Disclosures
Last updated: June 19, 2026
This page covers the most important things to understand before using FlatDiag: the risks of vehicle diagnostics and coding, our independence from Porsche, and how we disclose affiliate relationships. It supplements our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1.Vehicle diagnostics & coding disclaimer
Use FlatDiag entirely at your own risk. Reading, clearing, and writing data to a vehicle's control units can cause warning lights, feature loss, malfunction, the need for professional repair or reprogramming, or — in rare cases — a non-functional control unit.
FlatDiag is a tool for enthusiasts and is provided for general informational and convenience purposes. It is not a substitute for a qualified technician, official factory tooling, or professional advice. Diagnostic readings may be incomplete or inaccurate and should be verified independently.
- Only use FlatDiag on a vehicle you own or are expressly authorized to service and modify.
- Coding changes may void or affect your warranty and may affect insurance, emissions compliance, roadworthiness, or resale value.
- Perform changes only with a stable power supply, and keep the automatic backups the app creates.
- Never operate the app while driving, and never rely on it for safety-critical decisions.
- You are responsible for ensuring any change you make is legal where you operate the vehicle, including emissions and safety regulations.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FlatDiag is not responsible for any damage, loss, or cost resulting from your use of the app. See the full limitation of liability in our Terms.
2.Not affiliated with Porsche
FlatDiag is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG or any of its subsidiaries. "Porsche," "911," "Boxster," "Cayman," "Panamera," "Cayenne," "Macan," "PIWIS," and related names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners. We reference them only to describe the vehicles and equipment with which FlatDiag is designed to work (nominative fair use). Use of these terms does not imply any partnership or approval.
3.Affiliate disclosure
FlatDiag participates in affiliate programs. This means that some links to third-party products — for example, OBD-II adapters such as the OBDLink CX — are affiliate links. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, we may earn a commission, at no additional cost to you.
- We only recommend hardware we believe is genuinely suitable for use with FlatDiag; affiliate commissions do not change our recommendations.
- As an Amazon Associate, FlatDiag may earn from qualifying purchases.
- Third-party merchants and their websites operate independently of FlatDiag and have their own terms, pricing, and privacy practices.
4.General
Nothing on the FlatDiag app or website constitutes professional, legal, mechanical, or financial advice. Product names, compatibility, and availability may change. If anything here conflicts with our Terms of Service, the Terms control.
